Happy Civilization Day!

I like paying taxes. I must be kidding, right? No, actually I am not. I don't like to get all political in my blog, so I won't. AND I live in NYS, a state that taxes up the wazoo. We are taxed on just about everything, and yes, some days, I agree some of the taxes are a bit ridiculous, but generally, I am not aggravated by having to pay tax. I view them as my US membership fee--sort of like belonging to the Y. We all pay to belong and upkeep the infrastructure and to cover those who may be less fortunate than we are at the time. Sometimes we are not always happy about how our money is being used, perhaps we would rather have state of the art treadmills than a new play area for kids or additional water aerobics classes for the seniors, but that is just how it works...perhaps next year the money will go to the treadmills.
As promised, I will stop before getting into my political beliefs, and will simply rely on Justice OW Holmes to sum it up for me: "I like to pay taxes. With them I buy civilization."

Things I Like....Roads and highways, public education, the internet, the broadcast airwaves, our power grid.......the vast infrastructure available as a result of our taxes, the taxes that came before us, and the taxes to come!
